Biasanya kalau kita ngecek billing speedy dengan cara biasa, kita akan dibawa pada ritual berikut:

1. Buka browser
2. Buka www.telkomspeedy.com
3. Klik tanpa flash atau dengan flash
4. Isikan Username speedy berikut password
5. Baru keluar besaran penggunaan speedy secara global.
6. Jika ingin tagihan detail, masih harus klik Info Usage & Billing.

Gimana?? Bosen kan?? Kan bisa pake speedy allert? Iya, jika anda suka. Kalo saya terus terang gak suka, soalnya banyak menggangu, saat kita pake komputer dan gak connect ke internet. speedy allert nya suka muncul dalam jangka waktu tertentu. Ganggu banget.

Berikut cara cepatnya.

1. Klik kanan desktop
2. klik new shortcut
3. pada box yang muncul isikan https://portal.telkomspeedy.com/index.php?act=infousage
4. Klik Next, Lalu Isikan Cek Billing Speedy sebagai nama shortcut atau terserah.
5. Klik Finish.

Ok, Sekarang waktunya ngecek.

1. Klik dobel shortcut Cek Billing Speedy.
2. Jika muncul security allert, jawab Yes saja.
3. Isikan Nomor speedy yang 12 digit itu, berikut password.
4. Anda bisa lihat hasilnya sekarang.

Web Based IRC Chat

Meskipun hanya bisa komunikasi tulisan jika kita menggunakan aplikasi mirc ini, namun kadang-kadang kita rindu untuk mengenang jaman dulu, dimana kita harus pakai aplikasi ini untuk berchatting ria.

Kadangkala kita berada pada suatu tempat yang tidak terdapat IRC client software semisal mIRC atau yang lain, baik karena sengaja gak diinstall ataupun karena diblokir, maka solusi ini bisa anada gunakan. Ya... Web Based IRC Chat.


Langkah-langkah:

1. Buka browser kesayangan anda.
2. Ketik www.dal.net pada address bar.
3. Tunggu sampe muncul tampilan website dal.net
4. Pada box Chat now, isikan nick name anda.
5. Klik Go!
6. Tunggu Sampe anda terhubung ke server dalnet.
7. Anda sudah siap berchatting ria.
8. Gunakan perintah /nick untuk mengganti nama anda.
9. Gunakan perintah /join #malang, untuk berpindah ke channel malang.

Membuat User Login Otomatis di Windows

Mungkin di antara kita yang menggunakan Windows XP atau Windows 2000 dan memiliki banyak User menginginkan agar ada user yang diset automatis login saat komputer baru dihidupkan. Dengan kata lain ada user default untuk mesin / komputer kita saat baru on. Cara mengeset user automatis/user default adalah sebagai berikut :

1. Jalankan menu Run : Start > Run
2. Ketik control userpasswords2, maka akan tampil kotak dialog User Accounts
3. Hilangkan tanda cek pada option Users must enter a user name and password to use this computer, kemudian Klik OK
4. Pada kotak dialog berikutnya yaitu Automatically Log On. Masukkan Nama user dan password user bersangkutan yang akan dijadikan user default. Nama user dan password harus sesuai dengan yang ada dalam komputer tersebut.
5. Kemudian Klik Ok dan reboot/ restart komputer Anda untuk mengetahui efeknya

Apa yang Anda lihat? Keren atau aneh?

3. Ini yang lebih parah, bahkan seluruh team Bill Gates tidak ada yang mengetahuinya, bahkan Bill Gates sekalipun. Sumber lain mengatakan ini adalah rahasia Bill Gates sendiri dalam mencintai produknya. Caranya, bukalah Microsoft Word apa saja (Word 97,XP,2000,2003 atau 2007) lalu ketik =rand (200, 99) kemudian tekan Enter. WOW!

Cara Mempercepat Shutdown XP

Mungkin sangat membosankan jika kita melakukan Shutdown pada Komputer kita jika terasa sangat lamban,

Ini adalah trick untuk mempercepat Shutdown tanpa menggunakan Software, hanya cukup dengan melakukan perubahan Registrasi saja.

Klik
start/run/regedit

alamat: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Control Panel\Desktop

Klik pada layar Desktopnya, dan temukan: HungApp TimeOut
Akses dengan Double Klik Mouse
Dan ganti nilainya menjadi:4000
Bisa juga :5000 or 20000

OK selesai, lanjut ke step berikutnya

alamat: HKEY_LOCAL_MECHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Contro l\

Sekarang, setelah menemukan string: WaitToKillServiceTimeOut
Dan edit nilai menjadi: 4000

Membuat Buku dengan Microsoft Word

Tutorial singkat membuat buku dengan Microsoft Word.
Mencetak halaman seperti di Surat Kabar.

Langkah I
1. Open Microsoft Word (jangan tanya gw gimana caranya )
2. Buka dokumen yg ingin anda cetak dalam model buku atau buat dokumen baru
3. Klik File -> Page Setup
4. Pada tab Margins cari bagian Pages
5. Pada pilihan Multiple Pages ubah dari normal menjadi bookfold
6. Orientasi otomatis juga berubah dari portrait menjadi landscape.
7. Jangan lupa juga untuk mensetting margin halaman sesuai dengan keinginan kamu
8. Klik OK

Dokumen akan berubah menjadi bentuk landscape jadi check ulang dokumen anda.

Langkah II (print)
1. Klik File -> Print
2. Beri centang (tick) pada pilihan manual duplex
3. Klik OK

Setelah itu printer anda akan secara otomatis mencetak halaman anda. Tunggu sampai ada perintah untuk membalik kertas. Setelah itu balik kertas yg sudah dicetak dan masukkan ke dalam printer.
Note: Masukkan kertas dengan benar!!

Catatan Tambahan
Jangan lupa juga untuk memberikan nomor halaman untuk mempermudah.
Silahkan mencoba dulu dengan halaman yg sedikit.

Rename File Massal

Pernahkah anda mulai kesulitan ketika mau mengubah nama file (rename) secara massal? Pakai Windows Explorer, jelas anda harus lakukan ini satu persatu. Pakai Command Prompt, bisa, massal, tapi harus betul2 tidak salah nama filenya. Contoh dalam sebuah folder ada 1000 file dengan ekstensi .mp3, mau dirubah menjadi .mp2 misalnya, maka cara merubahnya lewat command prompt..

ren *.mp3 *.mp2

Lalu adakah tool yang khusus di desain untuk keperluan ini?
Jawabnya, Ada.

Kita bisa pakai Lupas Rename 2000.

Kembalikan (Recovery) File yang hilang dari Recycle Bin

Apa yang terjadi ketika kita menghapus file yang salah? Celakanya, menghapusnya pake Shift-Del lagi, sehingga file langsung hilang gak ngendon dulu di Recycle Bin. Atau file sudah kita hapus, masuk ke Recycle Bin tapi sudah kita Empty Recycle Bin. Tentunya anda pingin bisa mengembalikannya kan?

Memang banyak tool untuk itu. Ada Undelete.exe yang bawaan Windows. Ada juga Tool Unerase miliknya Norton Utility. Tapi kebanyakan tool itu tidak mampu berbuat banyak ketika Harddisk kita format pake NTFS, tool itu efektif bekerja pada sistem FAT.

Anda bisa mencoba Handy Recovery ini. Mau FAT mau NTFS, gak masalah. Data yang terhapus bisa dilacak dengan sempurna dan bisa dikembalikan dengan mudah. Uniknya lagi tool ini bisa langsung dicopy tanpa harus diinstall dulu. Jadi kita bisa copy dia ke dalam Flash kita, dan tinggal colok ketika butuh recovery.

Yang perlu diingat, usahakan untuk merecover data tersebut secepatnya. Karena kalo sector yang ditempati data terhapus tadi sudah dipake sama file lain, recover akan sulit, bahkan gagal.

Ternyata ada yang lebih mudah lagi untuk berlangganan RRS-XML Feed. Ini bisa dilakukan jika anda memakai Mozilla Firefox versi 2.0 ke atas. Dalam contoh ini saya pake Mozilla Firefox 2.0.0.3.

Bukalah sebuah Blog atau website apasaja yang menyediakan fitur untuk langganan RSS-Feed. Setelah terbuka, Klik Bookmarks - Subscribe to This Page - Klik OK pada Kotak dialog yang muncul. Nah, anda bisa cek hasilnya dengan klik Bookmarks - Bookmarks Toolbar Folder - lihat disebelah kanan. Dah muncul kan???

Mencegah Virus masuk dari Flash

Salah satu pencegahan agar komputer tdk tertular virus adalah dg mencegah tereksekusinya file virus. Untuk melakukannya, kita dapat memakai salah satu fitur di Windows XP yaitu Software Restriction.

Adapun langkah-langkahnya adalah sebagai berikut:

1. Pilih Start-Control Panel
2. Pilih Administrative Tools-Local Security Setting
3. Klik kanan di Software Restriction Policies, lalu pilih Create new Policies
4. Kemudian klik kanan di Additional Rule, dan pilih New Path Rule.
5. Di Kolom Path, masukkan drive dimana aplikasi di dalamnya tidak dapat dieksekusi. Karena kebanyakan malware menular dari flash disk, sebaiknya ketik drive di mana flash disk berada. Misalnya, jika flash disk ada di drive D maka ketikkan D:\
6. Di Security Level pilih Disallowed
7. Pilih OK dan restart komputer.

He he he. Ternyata di Mozilla Firefox ada fasilitas ini, dan sangat mudah mengaktifkannya. Kalao gak ada ya diupdate saja Firefoxnya.

1. Misalnya anda membuka www.mujib-ahmad.blogspot.com
2. Perhatikan di pojok kanan bawah, ada tombol kecil dengan nama Add live bokmarks for this page's feed.
3. Klik tombol itu, pilih OK.
4. Setelah semuanya anda bisa lihat hasilnya pada menu Bookmark.

Menolak Panggilan Secara Otomatis di HP CDMA

Kalo anda memiliki HP CDMA, anda pasti bisa menggunakan fitur ini. Saya akan menuliskan triknya dengan mesin NOKIA dan Kartu Flexi (bukan telepon biasa).

1. Settings
2. Security settings
3. Call restrictions, anda akan menemukan Security code di sini, isi saja dengan 12345.
   
4. Restrict incoming calls
5. Select, anda bisa pilih All calls di sini untuk menolak semua panggilan.
6. Untuk menolak panggilan dari nomor tertentu, pada langkah 4, pilih Add restriction.
7. Setelah mengubah semuanya, jangan lupa disimpan.

Nah, dengan trik ini kalo anda tidak mau menerima telepon dari oknum-oknum tertentu anda tinggal mengaktifkan fitur ini

RSS-XML Feed

RSS singkatan dari Rich Site Summary atau ringkasan dan bentuk sederhana dari sebuah situs. Kalau di situs, selain isi kita juga dapat melihat gambar dengan segala warna warninya, sedang RSS hanya mengandung isi/dokumen dari sebuah situs. Sehingga kita bisa memantau perkembangan sebuah blog tanpa harus masuk ke blog itu.

Untuk dapat memanfaatkan RSS ini kita harus menginstall RSS Reader, atau bisa juga kita memanfaatkan RSS Reader online yang bisa kita dapatkan di http://my.yahoo.com atau di http://reader.google.com. Pada kesempatan ini akan kita coba menggunakan RSS Reader di http://reader.google.com.

1. Masuklah ke http://reader.google.com.
2. Klik Add Subscription.
3. Pada kotak yang muncul ketik www.mujib.co.nr/atom.xml
4. Klik Add.

Next, akan muncul daftar judul posting yg ada di blognya saya.
Contoh pengetikan subscription yang laen.

1. www.ilmukomputer.com/feed/ (untuk situs blog wordpress)
2. www.liputan6.com/index.php/feed/ (untuk situs2 berita)

SSH di Windows OS

Trik berikut bisa digunakan untuk membuka port SSH (port 22) dari Windows OS, sehingga mesin windows kita akan bisa diremote layaknya mesin LINUX yang bisa kita remote dengan software putty atau WinSCP.
Software yang kita gunakan adalah OpenSSH yang bisa donlot di http://sshwindows.sourceforge.net/download/.

Setelah anda selesai Install program itu, anda bisa jalankan program ini dari menu Start. Akan lebih baik jika anda membaca dulu readme, atau Quick Start Guide. Di dalam panduan itu terdapat perintah-perintah berikut yang harus anda set agar OpenSSH bisa berjalan. Teks berwarna mearah adalah perintah yang harus anda ketikkan.

Configuration
-------------
1. Open a command prompt and change to the installation directory (Program Files\OpenSSH is the default).
2. CD into the bin directory.
3. Use mkgroup to create a group permissions file. For local groups, use the "-l" switch.

mkgroup -l >> ..\etc\group

4. Use mkpasswd to add authorized users into the passwd file. For local users, use the "-l" switch.
misalnya user yang anda pakai admin

mkpasswd -l -u admin >> ..\etc\passwd

5. Start the OpenSSH server.

net start opensshd

6. Test the server. Using a seperate machine as the client is best. If you connect but the connection immediately gets dropped, reboot the machine with the server and try connecting again.

Catatan:
Lengkapi username windows anda dengan password, agar ketika diremote kita bisa memasukkan username dan passwordnya dengan benar, dan melindungi ssytem anda dari pihak-pihak yang tidak bertanggung jawab.

Ngeset IP-Phone di Voip Rakyat

IP phone yang saya coba adalah IP-Phone jatah dari ICT Center proyek Jardiknas. Merek Koncept, Type KE1020A.

Dalam contoh berikut, setting yang saya pakai adalah:
TCP/IP telepon : 192.168.0.2
Router IP : 192.168.0.100 (IP router saya)
DNS 1 : 202.134.0.61 (dns jardiknas)
DNS 2 : 203.130.196.25 (dns jardiknas)
IP Phone Number : 53638

Pastikan anda sudah punya account di www.voiprakyat.or.id.
Kalau belum ya register, wong free, gak bayar.
pastikan juga IP-Phone anda sudah terhubung ke jaringan dan tersambung ke internet. ingat, anda harus tahu nomor IP dari IP-Phone anda.
Kalau belum tahu, lakukan set IP-Phone anda (dari pesawatnya langsung) dengan langkah2:

1. Set-TCP/IPsetting-OK-Select IpType-OK
2. Please Input-0 (ketik angka nol)-OK
3. Down 3x-OK-Please input-192*168*0*2-OK
4. Esc 2x-Set
   

Sesudah nya panggil nomor IP IP-Phone anda dari web browser.
misalkan: http://192.168.0.2
tekan Enter.

Anda tinggal ngeset pada layar yang muncul.
Berikut tampilan layarnya:

Install Knoppix 5.1

Langkah-langkah :

1. Jalankan LiveCD nya sampai muncul Desktop Knoppix 5.1.
2. Tekan Ctrl+Alt+F2, anda akan masuk ke shell, tempat berfungsinya Comamnd Line.
3. Kemudian ketik knoppix-installer, ikuti wizard sampe selesai.
4. Setelah Selesai Restart Komputer, copot CDROM, biarkan booting dari harddisk.
5. Nah kita dah punya Knoppix 5.1 di Harddisk.

Catatan: pada versi sebelumnya perintahnya knx-hdinstall. jadi jangan salah.

Buntunya Install Kubuntu 6.10

Saya mulai install Kubuntu 6.10.
Langkah demi langkah kulalui.
Sampai komputer minta restart.
Restart Sempurna.
Muncul Kotak Username tuk Login.
Usernya apa ya? puyeng.. buntu.. benar-benar buntu.
Perasaan dari tadi gak ada deh pengisian nama username. Yang ada cuman password. Lalu apa usernya??

Akhirnya, terpaksa install ulang. Lumayan 1 jam lah kira-kira.
Restart Lagi. Login lagi. tetap sama usernya gak ada yang cocok.

Pusing... tak restart lagi. Booting dari CD, masuk ke repair broken system.
Begitu masuk shell, kuketik whoami, dijawab root. OK
mulailah adduser aku, plus password.
Setelah itu restart lagi dari HD tapi. Begitu muncul username kuisi aku, password kuisi. Masuk dah.

Lalu kucoba iseng buka User Manager, ternyata di situ ada user oem.
Bangsat.... ternyata seharusnya username yang seharusnya saya masukkan adalah oem. Tahu gitu gak usah install ulang kan tadi.

Jadi username yang meiliki hak akses admin yang digunakan untuk masuk adalah oem.

cari nama Squid kemudan start

Dengan win xp sp2 dan windows firewall aktif :
Buka service untuk squid
Masuk ke control panel -> windows firewall -> Exceptions
Klik add port isikan name: squid ( suka-suka)
Port number : (isikan port yang di buka pada squid conf pada fole configurasi saya port 3128 )
dan TCP yang di aktifkan kemudian ok
Jangan lupa squid pada exceptions di beri tanda cek

Kalau sudah jalan silahkan browser anda di setting proxy servernya 127.0.0.1 port 3128 kalau menggunakan configurasi seperti contoh di atas.

WGA PlugIns Spyware 'ala Microsoft

Automatic Update adalah fasilitas Windows XP yang memungkinkan komputer yang tehubung ke internet bisa langsung mengupdate Operating System nya. Bagi yang memakai Windows berlisensi itu sangat menguntungkan dan berguna. Namun, bagi yang pakai windows gak asli (baca: bajakan), itu malah akan jadi masalah. Karena dalam updatenya nanti windows akan menyertakan paket WGA PlugIns yang merupakan spyware 'ala Microsoft, dan spyware yang satu ini tidak akan di detect oleh AntiVirus sebagai virus.

WGA PlugIns akan mengecek Windows yang dipasang di kompi kita. Kalau ternyata bajakan, maka akan ada notice yang ada di sistray, yang menyatakan bahwa produk anda gak legal. Lebih menjengkelkan lagi PlugIns ini akan menambah lelet lagi kompi kita. Karena paling tidak waktu startup akan delay sekitar 5 detik untuk memaksa kita membaca pesan dari Windows yang menyatakan bahwa Windows yang anda pakai ini tidak resmi.

Kalau anda pakai windows gak asli, dan anda terhubung ke internet, pastikan Automatic Updatenya sudah dimatikan. Namun, kalau anda terlanjur terkena PlugIns ini, mungkin cara berikut bisa mnegatasi masalah.

Sebelumnya, anda restart komputer dan masuk ke safe mode.
Cari file2 di bawah ini.
1. wgalogon.dll
2. wganotify.cat
3. wgatray.exe
Hapus semua setelah ditemukan.

Jika itu tidak menyelesaikan masalah, coba langkah ini:
• start -run
• ketik REGEDIT
• klik OK
• Hati-hati, sekali anda salah, mungkin akan berakibat fatal pada windows anda, lebih bijaksana jika anda backup dulu registry anda.
• Temukan HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon\Notify\
• Hapus key WgaLogon
• Jawab Yes kalau ada pertanyaan

Introduction

The My Recent Documents folder on the Windows XP Start menu displays a list of files and documents that you most recently used.

Removing the Recent Documents link from XP Start Menu

To remove the My Recent Documents folder from XP Start Menu, try this:

• Right-click Start, and then click Properties
• Click Customize
• Click the Advanced tab
• Under Recent documents, uncheck List my most recently opened documents
• Click OK, and then OK.

Equivalent registry value

• Open Registry Editor and navigate to:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER \ Software \ Microsoft \ Windows \ CurrentVersion \ Explorer \ Advanced

• Backup the key to a file. See Backing up.. article
• Set the value of Start_ShowRecentDocs accordingly.

By using the Send To command, you can quickly send a file to different locations including a floppy disk, your desktop, another person using e-mail, or the My Documents folder. The SendTo folder contains the shortcuts for the destinations that are displayed on the Send To menu. Every user on the computer has a SendTo folder and can customize its contents.

When you add new destinations to the SendTo folder, they appear on the Send To menu when you right-click a file, and then point to Send To.

How to Use the Send To Command

In Windows Explorer or My Computer, right-click a file, and then point to Send To. On the shortcut menu that appears, click the destination where you want to send your file. The file is sent to or activated by the destination that you select.

Destinations on the Send To menu can include any of the following:

•	Disk drives (local or network)
•	Fax printers
•	Printers
•	Windows-based programs
•	Compressed (zipped) folders
•	The desktop
•	Mail recipients
•	The My Documents folder

Add a Destination to the Send To Menu

By default, the Send To menu in Windows XP lists the following commands (destinations):

•	Compressed (zipped) Folder
•	Desktop (create shortcut)
•	Mail Recipient
•	My Documents
•	3 1/2 Floppy (A:)
•	CD Drive

To add a destination to the Send To menu, you must add a shortcut to the SendTo folder. To do this, follow these steps:

1.	Click Start, and then click Run.
2.	In the Open box, type sendto, and then click OK.
3.	Add a destination by doing one of the following: • Use the drag-and-drop operation to move the item that you want to the SendTo folder; to do so, right-click, and then click Create Shortcuts Here. -or- • Point to New on the File menu, and then click Shortcut. Follow the instructions in the Create Shortcut Wizard. A new shortcut is created in the SendTo folder, and it is displayed on the Send To menu.

NOTE: To open the SendTo Folder, you can also perform the following steps:

1.	Click Start, and then click My Computer.
2.	Double-click the drive where Windows is installed (usually drive C, unless you have more than one drive on your computer).
3.	If you cannot view the items on your drive when you open it, under System Tasks, click Show the contents of this drive.
4.	Double-click the Documents and Settings folder.
5.	Double-click the folder of the user whose SendTo menu you want to change (usually your own).
6.	Double-click the SendTo folder.
7.	The SendTo folder is hidden by default. If the folder is not visible, on the Tools menu, click Folder Options, and then on the View tab, click Show hidden files and folders.

NOTE: If you want to add a location to the SendTo menus of other users on the computer, you do not have to repeat these steps, you can copy the shortcut into the other users' SendTo folders.

Memunculkan Setting Arabic pada Windows XP

1. Klik tombol Start lalu klik Control Panel lalu klik Language and Regional Options
2. Klik Add Other Languages lalu klik tab Languages
3. Beri tanda centang pada kotak Install files for complex script ....
4. Klik tombol Apply lalu OK
5. Klik tombol Add lalu pada Input Language cari pilihan Arabic (Saudi Arabia) lalu klik OK

QuranInWordInd1.3 ini adalah free software yang digunakan untuk menyisipkan ayat-ayat al-quran berikut terjemahnya. Software ini dapat beroperasi di Microsoft Word Versi 2000 ke atas. Dengan menginstall program ini, maka di menu MS Word kita akan ada tambahan menu Quran yang berada di sebelah kanan menu help. Tentunya anda harus menginstall arabic support agar tulisan qurannya bisa terbaca, kalau tidak yang muncul adalah kotak-kotak yang sulit dimengerti apa maksudnya.

AVG & NOD32 Mendeteksi PCMAV sebagai Virus

Kami mendapat banyak laporan dari pengguna PCMAV mengenai terdeteksinya file PCMAV sebagai virus/trojan oleh AVG dan NOD32. Perlu diketahui, laporan yang masuk tercatat dari AVG Free dan NOD32 bajakan (selain NOD32 resmi, hanya ada versi trial, tidak ada yang free version).
Sehubungan dengan laporan tersebut, selama berasal dari CD/DVD Majalah PC Media maka kami menjamin bahwa PCMAV tidak bervirus. Hasil pendeteksian oleh kedua antivirus tersebut dipastikan merupakan false alarm akibat kekurangakuratan fungsi heuristic yang mereka gunakan.
Kami tentu menyayangkan atas ketidakakuratan ini, untuk itu silahkan Anda uninstall kedua antivirus tersebut. Kami menyarankan di dalam 1 PC sebaiknya hanya menggunakan PCMAV + ClamAV yang sudah lebih dari cukup untuk mengatasi virus yang banyak menyebar di Indonesia. Tetapi, jika Anda masih tertarik dengan kedua antivirus tersebut, silahkan menghubungi pembuatnya agar mereka dapat segera memperbaiki cara pendeteksian di antivirus mereka masing-masing. Atau, acuhkan saja hasil pendeteksian mereka terhadap PCMAV.
Sulit bagi kami mengembangkan sebuah antivirus yang kompleks dan handal jika harus selalu menyesuaikan diri dengan antivirus luar, apalagi antivirus luar kurang cocok untuk kondisi di Indonesia. Jika salah pendeteksian terhadap program lain terjadi pada PCMAV, maka kami memiliki kewajiban untuk memperbaikinya, begitu pula yang kami harapkan dari antivirus lain.
Ke depan, untuk menghindari kesimpangsiuran semacam ini, maka di setiap rilis terbaru PCMAV akan kami sertai dengan nilai checksum MD5 untuk memastikan keorisinilan file-filenya. Terimakasih atas kepercayaan dan kesetiaan Anda kepada PCMAV.

Men-download Driver dari Internet

Untuk menjalankan periferal Anda dibutuhkan driver yang bisa berujud disket atau pun disc. Sebenarnya apa itu driver? Driver adalah file yang menunjukkan bagian peralatan dan yang memberitahukan komputer untuk beroperasi. Tanpa penggunaan driver, periferal yang tersambung atau ada di komputer, contohnya printer dan scanner, tak akan dapat dioperasikan.

Biasanya ketika kita membeli periferal baru, pasti ada driver-nya. Lalu bagaimana bila kita membeli barang bekas atau second hand yang tidak ada driver-nya, atau jika driver aslinya yang ada telah rusak?

STEP 1

Gunakanlah salah satu search engine yang biasa Anda pakai. Ketikkan nama periferal dan ditambahkan kata "driver". Misalkan saja kita akan mencari driver untuk printer Lexmark dengan menggunakan Altavista. Setelah mengeklik tombol [Search] akan muncul daftar hasil pencarian. Bacalah satu persatu, bila tidak menemukan hasil yang pas, cobalah untuk mengetikkan kata kunci yang lain atau gunakan search engine lainnya, seperti Google.

STEP 2

Setelah Anda menemukan hasil berupa daftar link ke situs web terkait, klik link untuk men-download driver tersebut, dan tunggulah sampai muncul situs tersebut. Mungkin perlu waktu juga untuk menemukan driver yang Anda maksud. Setelah ketemu biasanya ada icon atau link yang mewakili file yang akan Anda download. Kliklah maka akan muncul dialogue box yang menanyakan Anda untuk menyimpan file tersebut, atau menjalankannya langsung dari lokasi aslinya. Pilih saja opsi untuk menyimpan ke hard disk, dialogue box baru akan muncul menanyakan di mana Anda akan menyimpan file download ini. Tentukan tempat yang paling mudah diingat, seperti di dalam Desktop.

STEP 3

Ketika Anda sudah menentukan tempat untuk menyimpan file download (file driver) tersebut, klik [OK], maka segera mulai proses download. Muncul dialogue box yang menunjukkan ukuran file dan lama proses download. Jangan kaget bila pada dialogue box tertera berapa lama waktu yang dibutuhkan. Bisa jadi lebih dari satu jam, dan ukuran waktu ini kadang tidak tepat. Meski demikian, waktu yang diperlukan untuk men-download file tergantung dari ukuran file dan proses transfer yang tertera pada dialogue box.

STEP 4

Ketika file selesai di-download ke komputer Anda, muncul dialogue box yang menanyakan Anda untuk membuka file tersebut. Klik tombol [Close] lalu putuskan koneksi internet, dan tutup semua program yang anda jalankan. Pastikan periferal yang akan Anda jalankan tersambung ke PC, dan nyalakan.

STEP 5

Temukan file yang baru saja Anda download lalu unzip-lah terlebih dahulu dengan program Winzip. Bila Anda tidak punya program Winzip, download-lah juga dari internet www.winzip.com . Bacalah juga file readme.txt yang berisi informasi untuk menyetelnya di komputer Anda. Namun jika file tersebut tidak perlu di-unzip, klik saja dua kali untuk menjalankannya. Tunggulah sampai driver ini mengesetnya secara otomatis.

STEP 6

Setelah driver tersebut diinstal, sebuah prosedur tes mungkin saja muncul untuk memastikan driver tersebut dapat dijalankan. Lalu PC Anda perlu di-restart - kadang proses restart ini langsung berjalan. Tutup semua program atau dokumen terlebih dahulu sebelum Anda menginstal driver ini.

STEP 7

Apabila driver tersebut tidak dapat bekerja secara sempurna, ulangilah lagi. Anda dapat mengecek driver ini di dalam dialogue box System Properties yang terletak pada Control Panel. Cara lain membuka System Properties adalah dengan menekan tombol [Windows] dan [Pause/Break] pada kibor. Setelah muncul dialogue box, kliklah pada tab Device Manager dan lihat daftar perangkat dan driver yang dipakai. Apabila ada peringatan bertanda kuning, maka klik pada kata periferal tersebut.

STEP 8

Dengan periferal yang bertanda peringatan kuning tersebut kliklah tombol [Properties]. Dialogue box yang lain akan tampil dan ada keterangan pada Device Status. Klik tombol [Reinstall Driver] atau klik tab Driver dan tekan tombol [Update Driver]. Maka akan tampil Wizard yang memandu Anda selama proses reinstall. Yang Anda perlukan hanya membantu Windows untuk menempatkan driver yang telah Anda download sebelumnya. Apabila periferal Anda tetap tidak bisa berjalan normal, mungkin saja bukan driver yang salah. Bisa jadi periferal atau program Anda yang rusak. Kalau ini yang terjadi, hubungi tempat layanan terdekat.
